November 2024

  • Exploring Knowledge: This Month’s Academic Journey

As we welcome November, we’re excited to share some upcoming activities in our classrooms. This month, scholars will focus on learning the seven continent names and their location on a world map,  weather changes, and what different animals eat.

We’re participating in a Camp Pendleton Toy Drive, with more details to come from your child’s teacher on how to contribute. We invite parents to contact their child’s teacher for information on how to support a classroom booth at the Fall Festival. In honor of Veterans Day, our scholars will write thank you letters to veterans, expressing their gratitude for their service.

  • Home Learning Adventures: Montessori Style

We encourage you to engage with your child’s learning at home through a few simple activities:

Practice counting objects when you set the table for dinner, or empty the dishwasher. Ask how many forks they put on the table or how many bowls they are putting away. Other counting opportunities include counting socks in the clean laundry or the number of apples you get at the store. Playing games with cards or dice are another way to increase your child’s counting fluency and number recognition.

Using  books, videos, or maps,  together  with your child,  look at  different places in the world. What animals and plants are common to those places? How do people in different parts of the world live? What do you notice that is the same or different  from what we see around us?

As Veterans Day approaches, you can discuss the importance of people who serve our country through military service. Veterans Day is a day to express our gratitude to those who serve. You can help your child write a thank you letter, or make a picture to give to a veteran in your community or a family member who has served. Finally, involve your child in the Camp Pendleton Toy Drive by choosing a toy or item to donate, emphasizing kindness and community support.

  • Leader in Me Program:

In the Leader In Me program this November, scholars are learning important skills to help them take charge of their education. They focus on "Determining Big Rocks" to identify their top goals, and "Planning Weekly" to create simple schedules that balance school and personal activities. They also learn "Getting and Staying Organized" to manage their materials and responsibilities in the classroom.

  • Engage & Create: This Month’s Project

As part of our exciting journey into the study of continents, your child will be working on a world map project. This project will focus on the names, shapes, and locations of the seven continents. This will enhance their geographical knowledge and foster a sense of global awareness.
