As you may have heard, Governor Gavin Newsom announced that California will mandate vaccines for all public and private school students ages 12 and older learning in person, once the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is fully authorized by the Food and Drug Administration for children ages 12 to 15.
Currently, the vaccine is fully approved for use in individuals ages 16 and older. Once the vaccine is authorized for that age group, the mandate could take effect for all students 12 and older as early as Jan. 1, 2022.
At the time the vaccine mandate for students ages 12 and older goes into effect, the state will also require all K-12 public and private school staff to be vaccinated. We will share details about this vaccine mandate and how it will impact school operations as soon as we know more. In the meantime, please contact email@example.com if you have any questions or concerns.
