Dear Families:
At Bella Mente Academies, our first priority is to provide a safe and comfortable learning environment for our students. It is also very important to me that I communicate with you regarding any pertinent information.
We recently received information that a student was planning on bringing a weapon to campus. Out of an abundance of caution, we have notified the appropriate authorities, who we expect to investigate and support our school as necessary.
We use the STOPit program, which allows for anonymous reporting. While this system is meant to encourage students to report credible threats, it does allow for some non-factual reporting due to the anonymous nature of the app.
Please take this opportunity to talk with your child about the importance of saying something if they see something. And, remind them that they should never report a fake incident because that is a crime and wastes the time of the authorities, who could be taken away from serious crimes.
