Week 31: 04/19 – 04/23/2021

Dear Bella Mente Families,

Thank you for another successful week! It is so nice to start seeing glimpses of “normal” coming back! We are planning graduation now for our Kindergarten and 8th-grade scholars! We have begun planning for next year which feels so good. I know our teachers are ready to get back to their Montessori materials!

You will be receiving an email soon with a letter explaining that we will be using MAPs for our assessment this year rather than the CAASPP. I am so pleased by this decision! Our scholars are familiar with the assessment and we have already given it twice this year so we will have a nice baseline to compare with when analyzing for consistent growth. I believe this path is truly the best for our scholars.

I want to thank you for your patience at drop-off and dismissal. Our gate has been mostly idle for a year and has become a little obstinate . Facilities are currently working to fix the problem.

We will open the gate at:

  • 8:15 am for morning drop-off
    • 8:30 am gate closes
  • 11:00 am for pick-up
  • 12:15 pm for afternoon drop-off
    • 12:30 pm gate closes
  • 3:00 pm for afternoon pick-up

A couple of things to note:

  • If you come too early cars will back up on Emerald. We want to be good neighbors in our community, so please come at the allotted time.
  • If you are late for drop-off, your scholar will be attending distance learning for the day as the gate will be closed when the bell rings.
  • Bella practices bell-to-bell instruction, please remember that the gate will open at 11 am and 3 pm for dismissal but the teachers will not be on the field until 5 to 10 minutes later.

If your scholar is in our hybrid program they MUST check out one of Bella’s Chromebooks. We do not allow personal devices on campus. Also, it is vital that your scholar charge their Chromebooks each night. Our teachers and I are losing valuable time calling parents to remind them that their scholar’s Chromebooks must be charged when they come on campus. We do not have the ability to charge Chromebooks. Maybe put a note somewhere to remind your scholar to plug in each night. Thank you so much for your cooperation with this!!

Just a reminder that Friday, April 30, is a non-school day next week. Enjoy your three-day weekend!

We are so excited to be developing new goals for Bella this year and need all of your input. As part of the state’s Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF), school districts, county offices of education and charter schools are required to develop, adopt, and annually update a three-year Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) to report on the funds distributed through the LCFF.

The LCAP is required to identify annual goals, specific actions geared toward implementing those goals, and must measure progress for student groups across multiple performance indicators based on eight priorities set by the State.

The priorities must be aligned to the Local Education Agency (LEA)’s spending plan to ensure alignment of projected spending toward goals and services.

Our proposed goals are below. We will be sending out a survey for your input and also a page on our website where you can review our draft and make comments or suggestions. Bella, your school community and you are vital in developing what we focus on for the next three years.

Goal 1 – Bella Mente will offer rigorous curriculum along with targeted interventions to support academic growth in ELA and math for all scholars.

Goal 2 – Bella Mente will provide a safe community for all scholars which encourages social and emotional development, strong staff/scholar relationships, and a sense of belonging.

Goal 3 – Bella Mente will develop ways to increase parent involvement.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions! I look forward to working with you on the LCAP and really enjoy my time with you at Answers with McQuestion!

As always, we at Bella want to thank you for your trust, patience, and kindness as we work together to make this a great year for all!

Enjoy and stay safe and healthy!
