Hello Bella Mente Leopards! 

We have passed a hundred days from the beginning of the academic year with many achievements! We have so many great events planned for the upcoming week. Here is what’s to come:

• Friday, February 17th “President’s Day – No School!”

Valentine’s Day Card Contest – Tuesday, 02/14

The Bella Team launches the Valentine’s Day Card Contest in collaboration with the Sheriff’s Department at the Vista station. During lunch time, scholars will be able to decorate a Valentine card. The cards will be sent to the Sheriff’s Department at the Vista Station for the selection of a winner. The top three winners will receive prizes such as gift cards from the Sheriff’s Department.

Monthly Dine Out – Wednesday, 02/15, from 2 PM to 8 PM

This month’s dine out will take place at Rubio’s – 620 Hacienda Drive, Vista CA. We will distribute flyers in the car line the day before, and promote the event on our social media.

Absences vs. Independent Study 

When your scholar is absent from school, please complete Independent Study. 

The Bella team will help you enroll and provide your scholar with the appropriate resources to keep up with class work and the essential skills taught during their absence. 

WHY complete Independent Study?

• The absence is eliminated from your scholar’s attendance record.
• High Schools favor scholars with Independent Study rather than absences in their admission process.
• No stress about checking your scholar’s work. Your teacher will take care of it!
• Your scholar is allowed to participate in Bella Mente’s field trips and after school clubs such as L.E.A.P. by having a 96% attendance rate or above. Counts towards perfect attendance to participate in our monthly Glow Stick Party.

Did you know funding for California schools is based on attendance? This year, Bella Mente has lost approximately $300,103 to date in funding due to absences. 

You can make a difference – please complete Independent Study for your scholar and help them clear their absences while staying on track academically.

Parent Volunteers 

Interested in volunteering on campus? Please take a moment to fill out the Parent Volunteer forms located on our school website. Returning volunteers must complete all forms and online training to be an active volunteer during the 2022.23 school year. Volunteer opportunities are available by contacting your teacher or emailing Anthony Beaver at abeaver@bellamentecharter.org.

Lost and Found 

Please remind your scholar to check their classrooms and the lost and found located next to the MPR entrance for lost and found items. Unclaimed items will be donated Tuesday, January 31st.
