Spring Reopening Letter #4 3/26

Dear Parent/Guardian,

We are happy to announce that students will be back on campus at Bella Mente! We are all so excited to see the scholars whose families chose hybrid learning! Of course, our staff will continue to thoroughly enjoy teaching our scholars who are distance learning, too! Our Bella Family works together for all scholars!

Our Board of Directors met last night at a special meeting and approved a reopening schedule which accommodates the number of students who expressed interest in returning to Hybrid Learning.

Students will receive their assigned schedule (AM/PM) next week. Please note, all scholars with siblings and Middle School scholars are assigned to our AM Group.

Based on the county’s move to the Red Tier in the state’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy tier system, Bella Mente Academies is moving forward with plans to reopen all grades for hybrid learning immediately following spring break, April 12th. We will also continue to offer our rigorous distance learning option as well.

We know that the process of reopening and adapting to a combination of in-person and online instruction, and a host of new procedures, will be challenging. But, as we have done throughout the pandemic, we will work together, persevere, and make sure our scholars are supported in every way possible.

As we have shared previously, we are following reopening guidelines provided by the California Department of Public Health and outlined in the COVID-19 and Reopening In-Person Instruction Framework & Public Health Guidance for K-12 Schools in California released on Jan. 14, 2021 and recent updates made March 20th. Our plans will include the following.

Students will be invited to return for a four day a week hybrid schedule. All students will participate in distance learning each Friday.

Monday – Thursday

Drop Off:  8:15-8:30

Instructional Block: 8:30-11:00

Pick up: 11:00-11:15

PM Group

Instructional Block: 12:30-3:00

If you chose hybrid learning and our schedule does not fit for your family and you would like to remain on distance learning please let us know by emailing gespino@bellamentecharter.org. We are working on each scholar’s schedule now and doing our best to balance classes for our teachers.

If your child is feeling ill or has a fever or symptoms of COVID-19, even if symptoms are very minor, please do not send your child to school and consider getting them tested for COVID-19. Students should remain home until a return date is determined in consultation with school personnel based on test results and symptom improvement, and following all applicable state and county health guidelines. They can return immediately if they have a documented chronic illness that explains their current symptoms.

Symptoms may appear in as few as two days or as long as 14 days after exposure, can range from mild to severe, and could include fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, sore throat, muscle or body aches, headache, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea, and new loss of smell or taste. Anyone with COVID-19 symptoms should be tested. However, many infected people do not develop symptoms, which is why it is recommended that exposed people be tested whether they have symptoms or not.

We want to take this time to thank you for your continued patience and understanding throughout the pandemic. As you know, the public health situation can change at any time. Our commitment to you is that we will do everything we can to keep our students and staff safe, and continue to share updates regularly with our community as we move forward.

We are looking forward to reopening and seeing students back on campus soon.

Sincerely,

Erin Feeley, Executive Director
