COVID Reopening Letter #8 1/13

Dear Families:

Happy New Year and welcome back to distance learning. I hope your 2021 has gotten off to a healthy start.

The current COVID-19 crisis impacting the Southern California region continues to present challenges for in-person learning. I want to thank you for your ongoing patience and resilience as we continue to navigate this uncharted territory.

Last night, the Board met and voted to delay our planned February 1 reopening and continue to evaluate the onsite learning direction for the school. As you are aware, due to the conditions (ICU capacity, COVID-19 case rate per 100,000 residents, etc.) schools that have not opened yet are not allowed to reopen for in person learning. We are expecting new guidance from the state regarding school reopening. The board would like to review the new guidelines and survey parents before making any final decision. Please view pages 83-102 of the slide presentation to the Board of Directors for more information.

I will be sending out a survey to parents to determine how many families would like to return to campus in a hybrid model and how many would like to remain in a distance learning model. We will use the results to determine the feasibility of options for the board. Please be on the lookout for the survey and complete it as soon as possible.

Principal McQuestion and I will be available at this month’s Answers with McQuestion to answer any questions you may have regarding the reopening of school.
